Changing Recurring Event Creation Dates

With the upcoming move to gmail's G Suites platform, all of the recurring calendar events will need to have their creation dates changed to ensure that they are moved over correctly. Please follow this guide to ensure that you can properly change the dates so that the events are moved over to G Suites.

Before You Begin

Please ensure that you know your Salem email and password. You will need both of these to follow the steps on this guide to change the creation dates on your recurring events.

Changing the Creation Dates

  1. Login to your Salem calendar online at this link: outlook.office.com/calendar

  2. Find your recurring events on your calendar. In this example, I created an event back on Jan 1, 2017, and have it recurring until 2021. I entitled it "OLD RECURRING EVENT" for demonstration purposes. You can tell if an event is recurring based on the icon.

  3. Select the event, as pictured above, and select "Edit," followed by "All events in the series"

Note: This selection will modify all the recurring events, past, present, and future. If you make changes to the date, the old events will disappear from your calendar. All future events will correspond with changes that you are about to make.

  4. In the next window that appears, you will be able to modify the beginning date. Next to the icon, select the to change the start date of the recurring event. Please change this date to a date in 2019. If it is not in the year 2019, it will not be able to be synchronized with our new email system. Ensure that you set the new event day to the same day of the week as it previously was to ensure that your appointments do not get disordered.

  5. Once you are done selecting your date, select "Save." In the window that follows, select "Save" again and it will update the entire series to meet our new email system's requirements to be transferred over. As you can see in the last image, my event that was created on Jan 1, 2017, has been moved to Jan 6, 2019, and all of the prior occurrences of the event have been removed.

  6. Done! Repeat these steps with as many recurrent events as needed.
